We do this because we understand that moving is a big step in life. It’s not easy to dive in and build a house without getting to know the place and the people first. In Skjåk, we want to make this transition easier. That’s why we offer “Trial-living in Skjåk” — a program that allows you to safely, simply, and affordably experience what it’s like to live and be part of our community before making a commitment.
About the trial-living homes
In Skjåk, we offer both a warm welcome and a place to live. That’s why we have covered both construction costs and depreciation for you by building brand-new, modern duplex homes, ready for those who want to try out the good everyday life in Skjåk.
You can rent the homes at an affordable rate for up to three years. After the rental period, you can decide whether to purchase the same home at a very reasonable price or find another suitable place to live in the village.
The homes, built in 2023/2024, have everything you need to get started with your new life in Skjåk: ample space across two floors, appliances, walking distance to shops, a newly built school, daycare, cafés, a gym, and other recreational facilities. And not least: a stunning view of the gateway to Breheimen national park.
To have the opportunity to try living in Skjåk, you must either have a job offer for a temporary position of at least 1 year, a permanent job offer, or be self-employed.
And most importantly: you must have a genuine desire to live and work in Skjåk.
The goal of the program is to help ensure that all the great businesses in Skjåk have access to enough workforce, which in turn improves life in your new hometown for everyone.
